Looking at our work - Day 2 - "Obsession over possession"
Are you intimately connected to your possessions? With the disasters that have happened in Japan this past week, I was thinking about possessions. What if you had everything wiped away with little to no warning? Would spending your tax refund to buy that new TV have been worth it? Your debt is on paper and is not located in your home. Think about this, if your car were damaged then insurance would cover most of the replacement cost. However, your credit card would still be maxed, your student loans still high, and any personal loans you've taken are still on record. With today's digital age, our debt is traceable no matter what the disaster. In Luke 12:15 it is written, "Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions". Be aware of what you have, what your goals are, and what you can give to others. When we work, what are we working for? Is it to gain possessions? I've always said, "You can't take a U-Haul behind a hearse"!
What do you possess that matters to you? Is it material or immaterial? When someone has lost everything, how will you give to them?
